If you're job searching right now... A quick check-in and a helpful resource
If you’re in the middle of a job search, I wanted to check in and send a big dose of strength and motivation your way. The process is hard, I know, and the current job market is making it even tougher. If things feel tiring, discouraging, or slower than they “should”, these experiences are very common.
One reminder that’s worth repeating is that many jobs are never advertised. They’re filled through conversations, referrals, and people knowing people. That’s why being visible with your job search really matters.
Keep reaching out to people you already know, and where you can, try to expand your circles too. The clearer you are about what you’re looking for, the easier it is for others to help. Make sure people:
Know specifically what job you’re looking for
Know the industry you’re targeting
Have a description and a short list of companies you’d like to work for
Have a copy of your CV
Are connected with you on LinkedIn
Understand how they can help - for example, by introducing you to someone at one of your target companies, or referring you internally
If you’re not sure whether you’re fully “job search ready”, start with the ‘My Job Search Ready’ Checklist in the WHM Resource Hub. When you’re aiming for your next family-friendly role, you want to enter the market prepared, confident and clear - so you can show up at your best and make the most of opportunities.
For more support, you have a few options:
WHM Job Seekers - our coaching group full of guidance, support, and encouragement for mums who are figuring out what’s next in their careers or actively looking for their next role.
Private Career Coaching - one-to-one support tailored to your goals, helping you develop an effective job search strategy and plan, and get expert guidance on applications, interviews and more.
AVGS Job Coaching - funded by the government for those who are eligible.
I’d be happy to help you figure out which approach might suit you - book a Career Conversation if that feels helpful.
Cheering you on!
x Melanie
